Your Saturday Food Run, But Homemade
Some of the best food near you comes from home cooks, cottage kitchens and food trucks, but it's hard to find. Here's why, and what Open Cottage is building to help.

Some of the best food near you isn't sold at a chain. It comes from a home cook a few streets over, a cottage kitchen selling weekend treats, or a food truck that sets up for a few hours on Saturday.
The hard part is finding them.
Great food, buried in vanishing Stories
For food creators who sell through social media, discovery can depend on catching the right post. A menu shows up in an Instagram Story, the order window opens in a DM thread, and pickup details get posted once and scroll away. Stories disappear after 24 hours, so if you weren't watching at the right moment, you missed it.
That's hard on food lovers, who have to follow dozens of accounts and hope to catch the post. It's hard on food creators too. They spend time answering the same "are you cooking this week?" messages when they could be cooking.
What Open Cottage is building
Open Cottage is building a directory for independent food creators. Each creator gets one page with their menu, photos and how to order, so you can find homemade food near you without digging through feeds.
We haven't launched yet. Food creators are reserving their Open Cottage pages now, and food lovers can join the waitlist free to hear first when it opens. Anyone in the U.S. can sign up.
Make this weekend's food run local
This Saturday, before you head to the drive-through, look for the food creators and food trucks close to home. When you find a good one, tell a friend. Word of mouth is how small food businesses grow.
